Newark Presbytery Stated Meeting and Special Meeting Minutes can be viewed by members of the presbytery by contacting the Stated Clerk. Minutes of the immediately preceeding meeting is available for review and approval in each presbytery meeting's packet posted under the Meetings tab of this website.
In 2006, Newark Presbytery approved then began to implement its mission design. It is a design that welcomes adaptation as the real world experiences inform its particulars. At the Leadership Conference at Bloomfield College in 2007, the General Presbyter offered two thematic goals designed to move the entire presbytery forward in mission in measurable ways:

When the presbytery redirects its energy and resources outward in the world, the promise of our world experiencing God's love becomes attainable. Our future will not be realized by accident, but can be realized when every church, every pastor and congregational leader starts where they are and commits continued ministry wellness and effectiveness.

The Presbytery of Newark is the successor of the Presbytery of East Jersey which was organized in 1733 by the Synod of Philadelphia. In 1738 the Presbyteries of East Jersey and Long Island were combined to form the Presbytery of Long Island. In 1808 the Presbytery of New York was divided with the churches in New Jersey becoming the Presbytery of Jersey. In 1824 the Synod of New Jersey divided the Presbytery of Jersey into the Presbytery of Newark and the Presbytery of Elizabeth Town. The organization of the Presbytery of Newark took place on November 2, 1824.
Since then, Newark Presbytery has established and organized dozens of congregations, a part of our history we are reclaiming for our future.
