After two years without an ordained pastor, Fewsmith Memorial Presbyterian Church welcomed the Rev. Baron Ashfield in December. Prior to his arrival, the church employed a layperson to preach. When parishioners had spiritual needs outside of Sunday services, in instances such as weddings, blessings for a homebound loved one, or confession, they had no pastor readily available. Parishioners had to reach out to the Presbytery of Newark to secure retired or fill-in pastors for such duties.
