Hello Colleagues, Are you planning to attend the Fellowship of Presbyterians in Minneapolis August 25-26? If so, I would appreciate knowing that you are going so that we can be of service to you while there. Rumblings and stirrings of the Spirit have emerged in recent years throughout the Church, and in the Presbyterian tribe portion of the Church, as well. I believe the Spirit's movement is constantly emerging and knowing its direction with certainty is difficult, if not a presumptuous goal. We are invited, however, as disciples of Jesus Christ, to discern the spirits and I hope you will share your insight as we seek to fulfill God's unique call to us as a middle governing body in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), thirty-eight congregations strong, in the months and years to come.
One special emergence of spiritual energy is from pastors across the church who have loosely affiliated as a Fellowship.
They met earlier this year in Phoenix, and are planning another gathering August 25-26, 2011. I plan to attend, as does our Stated Clerk, and other teaching and ruling elders across our presbytery. I try to pay attention to the Spirit and connect with the emergence of new spiritual energy. Leaders in various congregation and middle governing body roles are listening and engaged in what God’s Spirit is doing. Who knows what outcomes may emerge, but in any case, the Fellowship may be beginning to take on an increasingly important role as our synods and presbyteries discern the optimal realignment, reallocation, and repurposing of our abundant resources.
If you are planning to attend the Fellowship in Minneapolis August 25-26, I would appreciate knowing that you are going so that we can be of service to you while attending. Your opinions and perspectives on the emerging changes throughout the church matter to me, and to your colleagues. I urge you to make an effort to share your insight as we discern God's work together. If there is anything I can resource for you or your session, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Kevin
