Summertime Greetings!

Stony Point Center is excited to announce a Barn-raising to create an Arts Center on campus! I love the visuals that come with the term “barn-raising;” the whole community showing up to work together and create something bigger than any one family could accomplish. Many gifts and talents will be offered and woven together to raise a structure that will serve this generation and the ones to come.

Spring breakers will be able to come and take up sledgehammers, hauling off old structures that are no longer useful. Two garages will be torn down in March by volunteers. I know many of you will want in on the fun! Starting in May, the new structure will begin to take shape, hopefully being completed by October.

The new Arts Center will provide space and inspiration for visitors to the Conference Center including pottery, painting, slab work and much more. Taylor Potter, the architect that drew the original plans for Stony Point Conference Center has completed plans for this exciting project.

So, where do you sign up?! We would love to have 50 participants each week from May 1 through October, 2011, with weeks beginning Sunday afternoon and ending Friday. Youth are welcome as parts of your group, ages 14 and up. Each participant’s cost will be $500, which will all go toward materials for the Arts Center.

Lodging and food will be provided, and there will also be time to play and pray together with the other groups in attendance.

Sounds like a lot of money, you say? Think of the wonderful possibilities to share the Artistic offerings of your church to raise money for a group to attend! There will be an ongoing list of fundraising ideas on our website, www.stonypointcenter.org. If your church is interested, but unable to attend, please consider sponsoring an attendee.

There is a breeze whispering through campus as I sit outside and write. Dinners and lunches to come are growing on the grounds around me. Church groups, families, missionaries, interns and volunteers are learning, sharing and growing in their faith traditions. God is an amazing God, and as we take time to share our talents and ourselves, I think God grins and breathes a sigh of satisfaction.

Come be part of the excitement!

Please contact Kitty Ufford Chase at (845) 786-5674 ext. 121 if you have any questions, or to register your group.
